Verifying Origin
Proving origin and authenticity of Gibco FBS Premium Bovine Serum.
In addition to offering Gibco™ sera products that are ISIA Traceability Certified, Thermo Fisher Scientific now employ fetal bovine serum (FBS) fingerprinting technology to provide empirical and statistical certainty regarding origin and authenticity.
Oritain can prove the origin of Gibco FBS premium bovine serum is true to selected claimed origins.
Thermo Fisher's partnership with Oritain.
Why do FBS prices fluctuate constantly?
Thermo Fisher Scientific have developed a technology in partnership with Oritain that helps ensure the quality of sera obtained from low viral–risk regions. Gibco™ FBS fingerprinting, powered by Oritain, measures the naturally occurring elements in the environment that are absorbed by plants, animals, and soils, and then compiles those measurements into a fingerprint.
Using this fingerprint, a serum can be linked to its specific geographical location - providing a robust method to verify whether a product is genuine.
Gibco sera products are the first to offer this technology, giving scientists reassurance regarding the origin of each serum. Delivering quality in every bottle.
For over 50 years, Gibco cell culture products have set the global standard for quality and performance. As the world's leading supplier of sera, we add value to each product through all stages of collection, processing, filtration, testing, and delivery, using stringent process controls and the highest quality standards.
Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides researchers with the transparency and confidence they deserve.
Traceability like no other.
Oritain’s unique methodology applies forensic science and data to detect naturally occurring elements in a product or raw material. Soil composition, climate, altitude and other environmental factors all reveal the details of a product’s origin - which we call an Origin Fingerprint.
Once we’ve created an Origin Fingerprint, it can be used to audit our clients’ products throughout the supply chain - to clearly differentiate the legitimate from the fraudulent.
