Transparency and traceability.
Thanks to Cone Denim's partnership with Oritain, they have added traceability to their list of offerings. They are now the first denim mill, globally, to use a unique method applied through forensic science to detect trace elements in products’ intrinsic properties to verify the origin.
That’s a denim fabric where the cotton used to make that denim can be traced all the way back to the country it came from. All using forensic science and technology. The fashion industry is undergoing rapid change, with many companies all throughout the supply chain working to operate more responsibly and sustainably. But it all starts with the raw material. If you can’t be sure exactly where your raw material comes from, then how can you be sure how responsible and sustainable your supply chain is?
Buyers of Cone Denim's denim fabric can now rest assured that the cotton used in their denim fabric comes from countries that are ethical, socially and environmentally responsible and that the denim fabric produced is of the highest quality they come to expect.
Sustainability and innovation have long been part of the fabric at Cone Denim. Now it’s quite literally woven into their denim fabric, too.
"Traceability and sustainability are no longer industry buzzwords but strong-held values fast becoming the gold standard for our customers and the consumer."
- Steve Maggard, President, Cone Denim
Traceability like no other.
Oritain’s unique methodology applies forensic science and data to detect naturally occurring elements in a product or raw material. Soil composition, climate, altitude and other environmental factors all reveal the details of a product’s origin - which we call an Origin Fingerprint.
Once we’ve created an Origin Fingerprint, it can be used to audit our clients’ products at any point in the supply chain - to clearly differentiate the legitimate from the fraudulent.
