Oritain Selected as Sole Provider of Timber Testing Services Under UK Timber Regulation

Oritain is proud to announce its selection by the UK’s Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), part of the Department for Business and Trade, as the sole provider of timber testing services under the Timber and Timber Product Regulation (UKTR).

The Timber and Timber Product Regulation (UKTR) is a critical component of the UK’s efforts to combat illegal logging and deforestation, particularly in protected forest areas. Under UKTR, OPSS has the authority to seize goods, halt sales, and impose criminal penalties for non-compliance. Oritain will now be supporting enforcement by providing the scientific evidence needed to verify the origin of timber products.

This contract award represents a significant milestone for Oritain, marking its first formal engagement with the UK Government and reinforcing its growing presence in the European market. It also establishes a foundation for deeper cooperation with OPSS, which oversees testing across a broad spectrum of UK government regulations, further integrating Oritain’s scientific expertise into national compliance frameworks.
