We are currently seeking a Sample Preparation and Workflow Specialist to join our talented Isotrace team in Dunedin. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for the preparation and processing of various samples for analytical testing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established protocols. Your work will play a key role in supporting our team in their efforts in scientific traceability and sustainability. The position offers an exciting opportunity for professional growth in a dynamic scientific environment.

Permanent Role Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 130pm to 10pm daily.

Key Role Outcomes:

  • Carefully perform sample registration, distribution to third-party laboratories, preparation and analysis in accordance with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Monitoring all incoming samples, including verification and assignment to the appropriate laboratory.
  • Monitoring all sample preparation methods from sub-sampling to encapsulating, including treatment in the chemical laboratory, grouping samples with their appropriate quality control materials, instrument allocation and equipment calibrations.
  • Monitoring the storage of all completed samples in the sample library in accordance with the relevant SOP’s.
  • Monitoring stock levels of laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Accurately record all sample movements within the laboratory information management systems and tools.
  • Assist laboratory staff with their duties as needed.
  • Ensure you are trained to carry out your daily tasks.
  • Pursue development opportunities that allow you to maintain your professional and technical knowledge, reaching your full potential.
  • Protect confidential laboratory information and maintain high analytical quality.
  • Undertake other tasks as directed by the Commercial Delivery Manager.

About you:

  • Experience in a laboratory setting, with a focus on sample preparation is highly desirable.
  • A degree in a relevant scientific discipline is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to follow protocols and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • The ability to lead & positively influence others as required.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with laboratory tools and techniques involved in sample preparation.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety practices and quality control procedures is a plus.
  • Due to the nature of this role, a good level of physical fitness is required as much of the day is spent on your feet and moving around the laboratory.
