Oritain Announce Partnership with Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef

Oritain is proud to announce its membership of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB). The partnership reflects Oritain’s commitment to the beef sector and the increasingly important role of traceability in global beef production and food supply networks.

The GRSB is a collective of organizations who collaborate to advocate for and to drive positive environmental and social practices in the beef industry. Membership is drawn from more than 24 countries worldwide, collectively covering nearly two-thirds of cattle in the global beef chain.

Oritain’s membership brings scientific rigor and extensive industry expertise to the GRSB, providing leadership around product traceability and origin verification to support manufacturers by improving their supply chain transparency and underpinning global beef sustainability efforts.

The importance of proving where beef originates has risen in recent years with the introduction of legislation such as the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which has placed greater responsibility on businesses to ensure their products are produced sustainably, ethically, and responsibly.

There is an important role for this type of forensic application that can demonstrate origin to back up credentials and claims, alongside other systems based on animal ID.”

Oritain will join other members of the GRSB as a Diamond Sponsor of the Global Conference on Sustainable Beef held in Uruguay beginning September 30, 2024. The multi-day event brings together leading operators in the beef sector for a series of presentations, interactive panels, and working groups focused on advancing sustainability practices and reporting within the industry.

The beef industry was worth about 9.3 billion U.S. dollars in the United States alone in 2022, while the overall meat industry is expected to be worth over 1.3 trillion dollars globally by 2027.
