Supima is a world leading premium cotton brand representing hundreds of growers of U.S. grown American Pima cotton. To address increased regulation and credibility risk, Supima envisioned a way to verify cotton provenance with total certainty at every step from farmers to consumers.
THE SOLUTION
Oritain + TextileGenesis
In 2018 Supima began working with Oritain to authenticate its fibers using scientific traceability to deliver reliable proof of product origin by testing samples from throughout the supply chain. To complement this, in 2023 Supima launched their new licensing program through their AQRe™ Project, in conjunction with TextileGenesis, to replace their existing documentary chain of custody.
Both solutions offer distinct and complementary advantages. Oritain uses forensic chemistry and data science to definitively prove product origin while TextileGenesis provides the supply chain process connectivity of the end-to-end product through a digital ledger framework allowing for validated credibility.

Oritain’s unique methodology applies forensic science and data to detect naturally occurring elements in a product or raw material. Soil composition, climate, altitude and other environmental factors all reveal the details of a product’s origin - which we call an Origin Fingerprint.
Once we’ve created an Origin Fingerprint, it can be used to audit our clients’ products throughout the supply chain - to clearly differentiate the legitimate from the fraudulent.
