Mountain Valley Honey's 1500 hives are way off the beaten track, on Department of Conservation land in the Marlborough Sounds and on forestry land in the Mount Richmond valley between Nelson and Blenheim.
Mountain Valley Honey rely on nature, so their honey is seasonal. Each year they have a varied harvest which can include Manuka, Native Bush, Kamahi, Autumn Gold, Clover and Honeydew.
They've received National Beekeepers' Association awards: two first placings in different sections for their Manuka and Kamahi honey, and a second place for the Native Bush honey.
