Sustainability Statement

Through our partnership with CABOLQUI, we can now verify the origin of Royal Quinoa Bolivia, ensuring it comes from the unique environment of the Southern Altiplano in Bolivia, and giving consumer confidence that the Royal Quinoa was cultivated according to sustainable and ancestral farming practices by local smallholders.

CABOLQUI is the non-profit organisation responsible for the protection and promotion of Royal Quinoa Bolivia.

Royal Quinoa is only grown in the unique environment of the Southern Altiplano in Bolivia. The cold, dry climate, saline soils and high altitudes imbue Royal Quinoa with a distinct array of characteristics different to other grains, and even other quinoa varieties.

As well as being farmed organically, Royal Quinoa is 100% gluten free, grows up to 6x larger than other grains, contains significant amounts of various minerals such as potassium, calcium, phosphorus and iron, and is the only grain to provide a complete amino acid profile. All of this because of the unique environment it grows in, of which soil is one of the richest producers of quinoa in the world for its internal properties.

And so, protecting the origin of Royal Quinoa is imperative to protecting its quality, reputation and industry value, and protecting and enhancing the livelihoods of its farmers. Now, through our partnership, we can verify Royal Quinoa Bolivia all the way back to the Southern Altiplano region of Bolivia that it grows in, ensuring that local farmers obtain the deserved returns for the cultivation of their unique and high-quality product.

“We value the provenance of our products and strive for visibility of where and how our raw materials are farmed. We want consumers to be 100% sure that when they buy Royal Quinoa, they are buying an organic, heritage product from the highlands of Bolivia that contains all of the goodness it promises.” - Milenka Veizaga, General Manager, CABOLQUI
